The development project for the Velaa Luxury Private Island Resort at Norman’s Pond Cay, which was supposed to generate 1,300 jobs, has not progressed beyond the preliminary discussion phase. The Island Development Group, responsible for the project, has confirmed that it will not continue. Although the group remains interested in other opportunities in the Bahamas, no revival is planned for the moment.
