Shelly Weir, a passionate advocate for people with lupus, passed away at the age of 64 after 36 years of battling this autoimmune disease. Her close friend, Maxine McClean, confirmed her death at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Founder of the Hope Foundation, she worked to raise awareness about this disease and also supported individuals with sickle cell disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Her commitment will be deeply missed.
