In September, Japan recorded for the first time more than 100,000 people aged 100 years or older, reaching a total of 107,677 centenarians. This figure, up for the 56th consecutive year, is predominantly composed of women. While this phenomenon reflects exceptional longevity, it raises challenges for the economy, particularly in terms of elderly care and a shrinking workforce.
