Judge Raymundo Mejía has ordered the opening of a trial against former prosecutor Aurelio Valdez Alcántara, suspected of having received a bribe of 10,000 dollars from a witness in a fraud case involving the National Health Insurance. Although he has been placed under judicial control, Valdez has been released under certain conditions. He is accused of having abused his position to obtain funds from the witness, a former customer service official.
