Jamaica has introduced a national protocol for managing weapons in educational institutions, aimed at combating gun violence. This document, the first of its kind in the Caribbean, establishes standardized procedures to ensure the safety of students and staff. Its development involved various stakeholders from the education sector as well as security agencies. Awareness sessions will follow its launch, scheduled as part of School Safety Week.
