The President of the United States has given his consent for Nidal Hasan, an army psychiatrist, to be executed by firing squad. This soldier killed 13 people in a shooting in 2009 at Fort Hood, Texas. This is the first military execution since 1961. Hasan, sentenced to death in 2013, chose to represent himself without calling witnesses or contesting the charges.
