The Minister of Energy and Affairs, Kerrie Symmonds, announced the activation of ministerial exemption powers provided for by the Public Services Regulation Act. This process, which can be initiated by the minister or on the recommendation of the Fair Trading Commission, aims to exempt certain aspects of the law for public interest reasons. Symmonds clarified that this does not undermine the role of the Commission or that of stakeholders.
