Suriname has completed the conversion of its first foreign debt into Surinamese dollars, transforming a floating loan of 150 million dollars into a fixed-rate loan. This operation aims to protect the country from fluctuations in exchange rates and interest rates until 2044. The government has activated conversion options under the auspices of the Inter-American Development Bank, marking a major strategic advance in debt management.
