The Dominican Republic has begun construction of a 14.5-kilometer fence along its southern border with Haiti to enhance security and combat smuggling. This project, which includes watchtowers and patrol paths, aims to control the illegal flow of goods. At the same time, the government is pursuing an immigration program aimed at repatriating thousands of Haitian migrants each week.
