Camilla, the centenarian hippopotamus, gives birth to a calf in an Italian zoo

At nearly 55 years old, Camilla, the oldest hippopotamus in Europe, has given birth to a calf considered a rare event. The mother and her newborn, weighing about 50 kilos, are resting in the water, where the mother is nursing. Camilla, who has been at the zoo since 1976, has already had 14 calves. The zoo has restricted access to the newborn to ensure their tranquility, as the species is classified as vulnerable.
