China is strengthening its maternity leave system by increasing funding and facilitating access to benefits. Subsidies are now paid directly to beneficiaries, and 303 areas have eliminated hospitalization fees for childbirth. The country is also expanding coverage for assisted reproductive services and prenatal and postnatal care, while addressing growing demographic challenges.
