The department of Tolima is particularly affected by a series of fires, with four active blazes. The president reported that more than 50,000 hectares have been damaged, a large part of which is used for agriculture. Studies indicate that some fires may have been intentionally set. In response, the government is implementing an environmental recovery plan and is providing assistance for victims, as well as increased vigilance regarding health issues related to pollution.
