Dominican President Luis Abinader met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin at the Vatican to discuss the regional situation and the impacts of conflicts as well as transnational crime. Initially scheduled, the meeting with Pope Leo XIV did not take place due to his hospitalization. Abinader also called for prayers for the pontiff's health and expressed his desire to host him in the Dominican Republic in 2027.
