Between January and August 2026, the Dominican Republic recorded 817 homicides, highlighting a worrying increase in violence. Social conflicts are responsible for nearly half of the deaths, while crime and legal actions also account for a significant share. Monthly statistics show variations, with a peak of 106 homicides in July. The Minister of the Interior has also reported 51 femicides to date.
