The administrative court of appeal in Bordeaux ruled in favor of the relatives of a swimmer killed by a tiger shark in Saint-Martin in December 2020. The State and the Collectivity of Saint-Martin will have to pay damages after being found partially responsible. Despite the State's arguments regarding the unpredictability of the accident, the court highlighted shortcomings in swimming safety.
