Twenty-two bus drivers from the Karulis company have been sentenced by the Pointe-à-Pitre criminal court for embezzling funds by cashing payments without issuing tickets. They will serve suspended prison sentences ranging from eight to eighteen months and are banned from practicing their profession for five years. Community service and fines have also been imposed.
