The police of Trinidad and Tobago have launched an investigation following the discovery of a newborn girl abandoned in a cardboard box in South Oropouche. A woman found the baby, still attached by the umbilical cord, in a plastic bag. She immediately alerted the authorities, who took the child for medical care. The mother has been identified and the investigation is ongoing, with the support of the Child Authority.
