October 12 has witnessed many historical events. In 2009, the Israeli Prime Minister stated that no Israeli leader or soldier would be tried for war crimes. Fourteen years later, the situation in Gaza is worsening with relentless bombings. Other notable events include the election of Maurice de Sully as Bishop of Paris in 1160 and the inauguration of the Empire of Brazil in 1822.
