Two Martiniquais have been arrested for conch trafficking during a gendarmerie operation. Law enforcement seized 1,377 kg of this mollusk, a record amount. One of the suspects has been placed in custody after injuring a gendarme during his escape attempt. In addition to the conchs, ammunition, cannabis, and cash were discovered. Conch fishing is strictly regulated in Martinique.
