Since the end of July 2026, four Mauritian nationals have been in provisional detention in Madagascar, suspected of drug trafficking. Having arrived illegally, they were rescued after their stolen boat ran aground. Malagasy authorities are examining an extradition request. Two of the suspects were already wanted for cannabis trafficking cases in Mauritius, raising questions about the monitoring of defendants on parole.
