A cult leader in Kenya has been sentenced to 200 years in prison for the murder of 191 people, the majority of whom were children, during a campaign of abuse and forced fasting. Paul Mackenzie, founder of the Good News International Church, was found guilty of murders related to apocalyptic teachings. The judge chose not to impose the death penalty, believing it would not serve as a deterrent. The victims mostly died of starvation.
