The Colombian government has announced a law aimed at reducing state spending by approximately 40 trillion pesos. An initial budget freeze of 22 trillion pesos will be confirmed at the next Council of Ministers. This austerity policy, supported by the president, includes reducing the number of ministries and eliminating entities deemed unnecessary. The new national budget for 2027 has also been presented, without resorting to a tax reform.
