The General Directorate of Penitentiary and Correctional Services strengthens its measures to combat corruption, aiming to control the illicit activities of inmates, their families and prison staff. The goal is to stop the entry of drugs and prohibited items while ending the influence of prisoners on the management of facilities. More than 50 employees have been dismissed or arrested for corruption during the first half of 2026.
