The Ecuadorian parliament has passed a reform allowing the military to collaborate with the police in the fight against organized crime and serious disturbances in prisons. Although the project received broad support, voices have been raised against the removal of certain guarantees. President Daniel Noboa will now have to decide on its promulgation. This military support is limited to 180 days, renewable for 30 days.
