Researchers have recently detected unprecedented seismic signals in southern Chile, a phenomenon generally associated with the subduction of the Nazca Plate. These tremors, of low amplitude and long duration, have been recorded at depths of 30 to 40 kilometers. Although they are linked to slow earthquakes, advancements are needed in the installation of instruments to better understand their behavior and potential impact on the region.
