The director of the meteorological institution announced an early onset of the dry season in the country, linked to the effects of the El Niño phenomenon, which could last until May 2027. Currently, Panama is experiencing a meteorological drought with a rainfall deficit exceeding 50%. This situation could have impacts on agriculture, particularly for rice and corn crops. High temperatures are also exacerbating the situation, threatening hydroelectric production.
