A memorandum of understanding was signed on August 18, 2026, between Japan and the Organization of American States. The agreement aims to improve the national identification system in Haiti, a crucial issue as the elections approach. The ceremony took place at the National Identification Office, in the presence of several Haitian officials and the Secretary-General of CARICOM.
