Two cyclists were at the center of a violent altercation during the 8th stage of the Tour de Guyane, connecting Kourou to Macouria. Meving Gène from Guadeloupe was excluded from the race after exchanging blows with Tim Arts from the Netherlands. The latter received a one-minute penalty and a fine. The incident occurred as Arts was losing his yellow jersey to Damien Urcel, Gène's teammate.
