Since September 1, 2026, the cost of tap water in Papeete has been reduced thanks to a new progressive pricing adopted by the municipal council. The first cubic meter is now charged at 1 CFP, aiming to ease the bill for small and medium consumption. This initiative is accompanied by measures to repair leaks and support households in difficulty, without being used as an electoral argument.
