The National Trust of Saint Lucia aims to raise public awareness of a forgotten episode in local history, the Brigand Wars, which ended in October 1796. After the conflict, more than 2,000 prisoners, including free people of color and formerly enslaved Africans, were deported to Great Britain. Researchers from the University of Warwick presented their work on these individuals during events aimed at the public and educators, highlighting the importance of this history in education.
