Between January and July 2026, reports of fraud to the police in Trinidad and Tobago fell by 32.7%, but the value of fraud cases skyrocketed, exceeding TT$167 million. Fraudulent check scams and online scams are multiplying, prompting authorities to alert the public. Charges against fraudsters have increased, as have victims' losses, particularly in currency transactions.
