China has designated Beijing, Shanghai, and the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao as its main hubs for science and technology innovation. Starting in 2025, Beijing will expand to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, while Shanghai will cover the Yangtze River Delta. These centers have made significant advancements, with Beijing leading in the number of cited scientists. China plans to enhance its regional innovation systems by 2030.
