A study highlights the importance of early intervention for cochlear implants to improve language comprehension in children. The results show that patients operated on before one year maintain better long-term word comprehension. Each year of delay in surgery leads to a significant decrease in hearing abilities. The prior use of hearing aids also seems beneficial, although its effects are delayed.
