Lawyer Julio César Cueva has strongly criticized the decision made by a court regarding the mayor of Guayaquil, accused of illegal commercialization of hydrocarbons. According to him, the resolution presents legal and accounting inconsistencies. Cueva claims that his client, considered a political opponent, did not receive a fair investigation. Despite the conviction, he maintains that Álvarez retains his political rights and remains in office.
