This fortress, built in the 18th century on the orders of the King of Spain, stands at the entrance of Cienfuegos Bay. Designed by a French military engineer, it combines medieval elements and local adaptations. Formerly a bastion against pirates, it lost its military function to become a museum in 1998. Classified as a National Monument and a UNESCO World Heritage site, it remains a strong cultural symbol of the region.
