The Central Electoral Board of the Dominican Republic has validated the marriage of a trans couple, sparking a heated debate on the rights of LGBTQ+ individuals. Jayden Resto Holguín and Regina Balaguer de Resto, although identifying respectively as male and female, have been registered on their civil status documents as female and male. The JCE clarified that their union complies with current legislation, without recognizing marriage between same-sex individuals.
