The government plans drainage improvement works in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, to reduce the risk of flooding following the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa. The Minister of Local Development visited the area to assess recovery efforts. Improvements have also been made to Market Street to facilitate traffic and support local businesses. Further visits to neighboring parishes are scheduled to continue assessing needs.
