In 2025, the National Environment and Planning Agency received 2,430 development applications, according to the report from the Planning Institute of Jamaica. Although the total number of processed applications decreased compared to 2024, the processing rate remained high. Approved applications also increased, with significant growth in environmental permits and beach licenses. Municipalities received 4,609 applications, primarily in the residential sector.
