Michael Smith, a 54-year-old American, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for orchestrating a massive fraud on streaming platforms. Between 2017 and 2024, he used automated accounts and AI-generated tracks to artificially inflate the streams of his songs. This manipulation allowed him to siphon off more than 8 million dollars in royalties.
