Emrick Murat, a young researcher at the University of Schœlcher, has developed an innovative material by combining bagasse and sargassum. This blend offers increased mechanical strength and could serve as thermal and acoustic insulation. Industry players are showing growing interest in this project, which could soon receive funding for large-scale exploitation. Similar research is underway in the Caribbean to valorize sargassum.
