Between August 1 and 24, 17 newborns died at the Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia Maternity Hospital, where epidemiological surveillance has been strengthened due to infections by multidrug-resistant microorganisms. Among these deaths, three very premature babies tested positive for germs. The other deaths are related to complex neonatal complications. Authorities are investigating the presence of pathogens in several areas of the hospital.
