Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre described the agreement with the United States regarding the reception of third-country deportees as a difficult decision. After negotiations, he believes that Saint Lucia has achieved the best possible compromise. The current agreement limits the reception to ten people every three months, an improvement over the initial lack of limit. Pierre also mentioned the support of the International Organization for Migration for the first days of the arrivals.
